OREANDA-NEWS  On June 21-22, 2017 the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Hungary, Peter Szijjarto, visits Belarus.

During the negotiations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, it was noted that in recent years the Belarusian-Hungarian relations are actively developing. The exchange of visits by Foreign Ministers has acquired a regular annual character. V.Makei and P.Szijjarto meet on a regular basis during participation in multilateral events, including the OSCE, the EU “Eastern Partnership” initiative, etc.

The main topic of the meeting between V.Makei and P.Szijjarto was the economy and development of mutually beneficial trade, economic and investment ties between Belarus and Hungary. The parties stressed the intention to make additional efforts to strengthen the positive trends in the steady growth of trade that have been observed since the beginning of 2017.

The sides also discussed the general situation and prospects for the development of the Belarusian-Hungarian relations, Belarus-EU dialogue and interaction between Belarus and Hungary within the framework of international organizations.

Ministers noted the effective nature of contacts between the Foreign Ministries of Belarus and Hungary, which in 2015-2016 for the first time developed on the basis of a special Cooperation Program. Taking into account the positive experience of its’ implementation, the Ministers signed new Program of Cooperation between the Foreign Ministries of the two countries for the next two-year period.
