OREANDA-NEWS. Ukraine feels significant political and economic support of the Government of Japan and expressed interest in deepening cooperation aimed to leverage investment and deploy new production facilities on Ukrainian territory. This was stated by Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman during his meeting with Chairman of the Committee of Keidanren Japan Business Federation Teruo Asada.

“I want to express my gratitude to Japan for its overall support for Ukraine – both economic and political. We deeply value our relations and are keen to develop them. We have good signals of bilateral trade and good potential to attract Japanese companies to the Ukrainian market”, said the Prime Minister. “We appreciate business activities of Japan in Ukraine."

Volodymyr Groysman emphasized that Ukraine was engaged in overcoming the crisis and was demonstrating a growing trend. "We recovered from crisis. We have triggered economic growth and this year we are committed to pursue vital and difficult reforms. A growing economy is a good signal for investment. The more so that we have a wide spectrum of cooperation areas - from IT to the agricultural sector and infrastructure. We are interested in building production facilities in Ukraine”, said Volodymyr Groysman. “Business climate in Ukraine will only be changing for the better. We as Government demonstrate staunch support for business."

For his part, Teruo Asada said that Japanese business can be advantageous for Ukraine, as it is interested in such sectors as renewable energy, construction of highways, in particular on concession terms, modernization of port infrastructure. In this regard, Teruo Asada mentioned a reconstruction project for Bortnychy sewage treatment plant in Kyiv region being implemented with the financial support of the Government of Japan.
