He made the corresponding statement at a press conference in Chengdu on Tuesday, where he held talks with South Korean President Moon Jae In and Chinese Premier Li Keqiang.

“I am aimed at resolving the issue of a peace treaty with Russia”, the prime minister quoted national news agencies as saying. “We will conclude it by resolving the territorial issue, which we consider it our duty”.

Shinzo Abe emphasized that he has made significant progress in relations with China. He noted the special importance of the upcoming visit of the PRC President to Japan next spring.
