OREANDA-NEWS. On October 10, at about 8:00 a. m. local time, at the airport, located in Hörsching, a municipality in the district Linz-Land in the Austrian state of Upper Austria, an explosion occurred. Nine people were injured.

An accident took place at a garbage processing station located at the territory of the airport and owned by the garbage utilization company Umwelt Service. A detonation occurred in one of the premises of the station. After the explosion, a fire began. Emergency services managed to prevent the spread of fire to other buildings. All people were taken out of the dangerous territory.

18 fire brigades, rescuers and policemen operated at the place of the accident.

Austrian media reported that nine people were injured in the explosion. Three of them are seriously damaged. All victims are employees of Umwelt Service.

The cause of the explosion is not known exactly. The local police representatives deny the version of a terrorist act. The cause of the explosion, according to the preliminary version, is a violation of rules of the plastic utilization process technology.

The explosion at the garbage processing station did not affect the operation of the airport itself. All flights took place within the planned time, the airport building is open to passengers. There was no evacuation of people from the airport building.
