OREANDA-NEWS. Mai-Mai militants attacked two Ebola virus centers in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo and killed at least three employees, three others were injured and were in critical condition. This was reported on Thursday by Reuters, citing the country's medical authorities.

“The attacks were reported to have been carried out by May-May troops on Thursday night", said Jean-Jacques Muembe, head of the Ebola National Anti-Virus Service. “This is a serious blow to our efforts to combat the Ebola virus disease”.

Along with those killed and seriously injured as a result of the attack, there are also missing persons. The World Health Organization (WHO) has already condemned these attacks. In turn, the television channel Al Jazeera notes that one of the attacks was "May-May" against the Ebola virus medical center in the city of Biakato (Ituri province). The militants set fire to the building and the vehicles near it.

Since October, the Congolese armed forces have been conducting the largest operation in recent years to identify and destroy militant units in the east of the country.
