OREANDA-NEWS By the end of February, the total number of car loans issued in Russia reached a record level of more than 104 thousand loans in three years. This is reported by TASS with reference to statistical data from analysts of the National Bureau of Credit Histories (NBKI).

The analysis was conducted based on information about three thousand creditors. Over the last month of winter, a total of 104.5 thousand loans were issued in Russia for the purchase of new cars and used cars, experts said.

The last time such high figures were recorded in the domestic market was in April 2021. At that time, 107.6 thousand car loans were issued in Russia for such purposes, analysts summarized.

In comparison with the January indicator, the February one increased by 29.1 percent. In the first month of 2024, 80.9 thousand car loans were issued in the country. Thus, the number of approved loans increased by 23.6 thousand units in a month.

The Republic of Tatarstan turned out to be the leader in terms of growth rates among all Russian regions (plus 41.9 percent). Chuvashia (plus 40.4 percent) and Stavropol Territory (plus 40.1 percent) also entered the top 3 in terms of increasing the number of car loans issued, NBKI concluded.

The number of car loans issued in Russia has been growing for several years. Autonews, citing a study by VTB Bank, reported that in January-November 2023, Russians collected car loans worth more than 1.4 trillion rubles. At the same time, the volume of loans issued during this period of time doubled last year's figures and exceeded the results of 2021 by 27 percent.
