OREANDA-NEWS  China supports the early convening of an international conference on the Ukraine crisis, with equal participation from both Moscow and Kiev, said Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi at a joint press conference with his Russian counterpart, Sergei Lavrov, after their talks in Beijing. Wang Yi expressed hope for an immediate ceasefire and emphasized China's commitment to an early conference that would involve all parties involved in the conflict, with fair representation and a discussion of peaceful solutions. The foreign minister reiterated China's commitment to the principles set forth by President Xi Jinping regarding the Ukraine issue.

In March 2022, President Xi proposed four principles that should be applied in the current conflict in Ukraine. These principles emphasize respect for the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and security interests of all countries involved, including Ukraine. They also stress the importance of upholding the goals and principles of the UN Charter and supporting efforts to resolve the conflict peacefully. These principles form the basis of China's diplomatic approach to resolving the Ukraine crisis, as outlined in a statement published in February 2023.
