OREANDA-NEWS  Tallinn plans to buy 18 French self-propelled artillery units (ACS) Caesar for the Estonian Defense Forces. This was stated by the head of the Ministry of Defense (MO) of the country Hanno Pevkur, his words are quoted by Postimees.

He noted that the purchase of new 155 mm wheeled howitzers will be the most important purchase of weapons in the package of strengthening the defense forces. At the moment, the Estonian army is armed with 24 South Korean 155-millimeter K9 Thunder tracked self-propelled guns.

The minister said that a separate battalion would be formed from the French self-propelled guns, which would be subordinate to the 1st division. According to him, wheeled self-propelled guns will be purchased to make long-range firepower more flexible and fast.

On March 26, French Defense Minister Sebastian Lecornu announced his intention to supply Kiev with 78 Caesar self-propelled guns. He said that there is an agreement between France, Ukraine and Denmark on financing 155-millimeter self-propelled howitzers, which will allow the country to deliver artillery to Kiev as soon as possible.
