OREANDA-NEWS. The fifth-generation fighter F-35A Lightning II assigned to the 58th Fighter Sqadron of the US Air Force crashed at Eglin Air Force Base (Florida, USA). The pilot survived.

It is known that an aircraft crashed on May 19 at 21:30 local time (01:30, May 20 UTC) while landing at Eglin. The pilot successfully ejected and was transported to the hospital to assess his physical condition. Fox News reported that the pilot is in a stable condition.

During the incident, people were not injured, and civilian objects were not damaged.

“At the time of the accident, the pilot was participating in a routine night training sortie,” the statement by Eglin Air Force Base posted on its Twitter page reads.

An investigation of the crash is underway.
