OREANDA-NEWSKorean Foreign Minister Kang Gen Hwa will discuss with the US Secretary of State Michael Pompeo the peace process in North Korea and the situation in the Middle East on January 14 in San Francisco. This was announced on Thursday by a news agency.

"The heads of the diplomatic departments plan to assess the situation regarding denuclearization and peace on the Korean peninsula, as well as discuss ways to comprehensively and mutually beneficial the development of South Korean-American relations", Yinhap quoted a statement by South Korean Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Kim Ying Chol. He added that the parties will also discuss regional and international issues, including the situation in the Middle East.

According to the agency, Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi is also expected to visit San Francisco to hold bilateral and trilateral meetings with his American and South Korean counterparts. Earlier it was reported that the head of the foreign ministry of South Korea planned to visit the United States in November. However, due to difficulties with the working schedule of Kang Gen Hw and Michael Pompeo, the trip did not take place.
