OREANDA-NEWS  Huawei will open a research center in Tatarstan, where information and communication technologies will be developed, the press service of the President of Tatarstan reports.

Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov and Vice-President of Huawei Amy Lin took part in the solemn ceremony of signing the Memorandum of cooperation between the Ministry of information and communication of Tatarstan and Huawei.

"A number of documents on cooperation between Tatarstan and Huawei were signed today at the headquarters of the Chinese company in Shenzhen... the Memorandum of cooperation was signed by the Minister of information and communication of Tatarstan Roman Shaykhutdinov and Vice President of Huawei for global cooperation Zhu Weihua. As part of the implementation of the document, Huawei begins work on the opening of its research center on the territory of the Republic," the report said.

As specified in the Ministry of information and communication of Tatarstan, the Memorandum covers a range of goals and objectives that contribute to the exchange of experience in such priority areas as research in the field of development of modern technologies, involvement in joint research of scientific personnel and startups of the Republic. The parties also agreed to hold mutual consultations on the exchange of scientific and practical experience, and also intend to consider the possibility of organizing Huawei research laboratory on the territory of Tatarstan.

"It's nice to see how rapidly our partnership with the Republic of Tatarstan is developing. The opening of the research laboratory will be an important step for both sides. Now Huawei will not only introduce ICT technologies in the economy of the Republic, but also develop them together with scientific experts of the region", — commented on the signing of Zhu Weihua.

"Cooperation with Huawei in the development of safe city systems, the introduction of 5G technology will help us to make a powerful breakthrough in the development of the digital economy of the region and the country. The new research and development center will help to effectively use the scientific and technical potential of the Republic. The potential interest of the company in venture investment in Tatarstan it projects and solutions is also encouraging," said the Minister of information and communication of Tatarstan.

In 2017 in the framework of the visit to Szczecin, the President of Tatarstan held meetings with management of Huawei. The result of the negotiations was the implementation by the Chinese company of a number of projects in the country. In January 2018, Huawei and the government of Tatarstan signed an agreement on the development of cooperation in the field of information and communication technologies in various sectors of the region's economy. In the spring of Huawei made technological partner for the launch of a test zone of the new generation network technology 5G in Innopolis. In summer, students of Kazan Federal University took part in the global educational program Seedsfor the Future.
