OREANDA-NEWS. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has worsened its forecasts for the current year. According to experts, by the end of 2020 global gross domestic product (GDP) will fall by 4.9 %, while previously predicted figure was 3 %.

As for the regions of the world, the prognoses are the following. GDP of the United States will decline by 8 % (previously predicted drop was 5.9 %). Eurozone’s economy will fall by 10.2 % (earlier – 7.5 %). At the same time, China’s GDP will grow by 1 % (although growth of 1.2 % was previously forecasted). India will lose 4.5 %. The two largest economies of Latin America, Brazil and Mexico, are suggested to decline by 9.1 % and 10.5 %, respectively. Russia’s economy will decline by 6.6 % (instead of 5.5 %, predicted in April).

The IMF also raised its forecast for average oil prices in 2020 by 0.57 US dollars, to 36.18 dollars per barrel.
