OREANDA-NEWS. An emergency summit of the leaders of the G20 countries on the situation with the spread of coronavirus in the world should be held on March 26 in a video conference format. This was reported on Tuesday by a news agency, citing sources in the Japanese government.

The specific time of the conference is agreed. According to Japanese time, it's expected to take place in the evening (afternoon in Russia and Europe). On March 18, the Saudi press agency reported that Riyadh is planning to convene an extraordinary G20 summit in a virtual format to discuss the situation with coronavirus in a virtual format, starting March 23. Saudi Arabia presides over the G20 this year, a traditional annual G20 summit scheduled for November in the kingdom.

The outbreak caused by the new coronavirus disease was recorded at the end of 2019 in Central China, later spreading to more than 150 countries and was recognized by the World Health Organization as a pandemic. According to the latest data, about 350 thousand people were infected in the world, about 16 thousand deaths were recorded. In Russia, 438 cases of infection were registered, 17 people were cured and discharged from hospitals.
