Russian climber disappeared in the mountains of Kyrgyzstan

OREANDA-NEWS Russian climber Yevgeny Glazunov disappeared while climbing in the Laylyaksky district of the Batken region of Kyrgyzstan. TASS was informed by the Kyrgyz Federation of Mountaineering and Rock Climbing.
The athlete began climbing Aksu Peak (height — 5,355 meters) on February 12, but on the 16th he decided to turn around due to bad weather and began to descend quickly. Since then, the connection with Glazunov has disappeared.
It is clarified that the climber was walking with a partner who insured him at the bottom. It was he who reported Glazunov's disappearance. The man tried to start the search himself, but visibility in the mountains was poor.
Anna Piunova, a member of the Russian Mountaineering Federation, said on the VKontakte social network that the search for Glazunov will begin on February 21 — the weather does not allow yet. Climbers Alexey Boyko (St. Petersburg) and Anatoly Syshchikov (Yekaterinburg) flew to this area.
"The guys will just get to the place, try to fly around with a drone, look at the wall with binoculars. What happens next will be decided there," she added.
It is known that Glazunov hails from the Irkutsk region. He started mountaineering in 2002 and has since completed 250 ascents. The athlete also runs the Baikal Mountains mountaineering school. In 2018, his brother Sergei fell off a cliff in Pakistan and did not survive.
