OREANDA-NEWS. NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg stated that the alliance has no reason not to trust some Western countries’ intelligence data about a possible missile strike of a Ukrainian passenger aircraft in the sky over Iran.

“We have no reason to not believe the reports we have seen from different NATO allies… that the plane may have been downed by Iranian air defense systems,” Stoltenberg said before an extraordinary meeting of the European Union’s foreign ministers.

The politician noted that “a thorough investigation” is needed. “I call on Iran to fully participate and contribute to a transparent and thorough investigation,” Stoltenberg added.
