OREANDA-NEWS. On December 24, the Su-57 (T-50) fighter crashed in the Khabarovsk Krai (Russian Far East).

The United Aircraft Corporation reported to RIA Novosti news agency that the pilot of the plane baled out and survived. There are no victims and destruction on the ground. The fifth-generation fighter crashed 111 kilometers from the Dzyomgi aerodrome during a test flight. Sources in law enforcement agencies said that the crashed plane belonged to the manufacturer.

The administration of the Khabarovsk Krai reported that the pilot of the crashed plane was found and taken by helicopter to the aircraft factory in the city of Komsomolsk-on-Amur. “The fighter crashed during tests in the taiga, far from Komsomolsk-on-Amur,” TASS agency’s interlocutor said.

According to preliminary data, the crashed fighter was the first production Su-57, which was supposed to be transferred to the Ministry of Defense before the end of 2019.

Sources also report that the cause of the incident could be “failure in the control system” or “failure in tail unit control.” At the crash site, two black boxes were found. Devices are in good condition. They are planned to be delivered to Moscow for decoding at the research institute of the Ministry of Defense.
