OREANDA-NEWS  The flood in China's Henan province triggered by the worst rainfall in decades, has led to the shutdown of Dengfeng Power Group's aluminum smelter.

The enterprise with a capacity of 60 thousand tons per year produces rods from aluminum alloys as well as products from titanium and aluminum-silicon alloys with a high silicon content. The territory of the plant was flooded, and the ingress of water into the smelting furnace caused an explosion.

In general, the flood caused significant damage to the local non-ferrous metallurgy. In a number of counties of the province, a number of copper production enterprises have stopped due to flooding. The rains in the region are expected to subside from July 22 but the timing of recovery has not yet been determined due to damage to roads and railways as well as extensive flooding.
