OREANDA-NEWSAttorney of the US President Rudolf Giuliani intends to visit Kiev to convince the new Ukrainian authorities to conduct an investigation, the results of which could be useful to the American leader Donald Trump. This was reported on Thursday by The Wall Street Journal.

According to her, Giuliani can "in the coming days" go to Kiev to meet with the elected president of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky. The newspaper claims that Giuliani intends to convince him to conduct an investigation, which, according to supporters of the White House, "can disclose information on two issues of great interest to Trump." One of them concerns the investigation of US Special Prosecutor Robert Muller regarding the interference attributed to Russia in the 2016 US elections. The other relates to the alleged connections of the son of US Vice President Joseph Biden with a gas company owned by an unnamed Ukrainian oligarch.

The publication emphasizes that among the main objectives pursued by Trump's allies in an attempt to push the new government in Kiev to conduct investigations, is the intention to discredit Muller’s investigation, including the case in which he was sentenced to 7.5 years in prison Trump Paul Manafort. It is also in their interest, according to the newspaper, to damage the reputation of Biden, who is considered one of the favorites of the election race among representatives of the Democratic Party.

In January 2019, Ukrainian politician Viktor Medvedchuk stated that a court in Kiev declared illegal the actions of Artem Sytnik, Director of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine, and Verkhovna Rada Deputy Sergei Leshchenko to spread information about the presence of Paul Manafort, the so-called black bookkeeping of the Party of Regions. As Medvedchuk noted, some Ukrainian politicians and officials were interested in winning Clinton in the 2016 presidential election.
