OREANDA-NEWSThe United States won't support or in any way participate in the military operation that Turkey intends to carry out in the north and northeast of Syria. This was reported by the White House press service following a telephone conversation with US President Donald Trump and his Turkish counterpart Recep Erdogan, reports the American media.

The White House added that the US government insisted that France, Germany and other European countries, from where many of the captured ISIS fighters arrived, take them back, but they refused. The United States won't hold captive militants, as this can drag on for years to come and require large expenditures by US taxpayers. Now Turkey will be responsible for all ISIS militants in the area captured over the past two years after the US defeats local terrorist groups.

Statements are made against Erdogan’s recent intentions to launch a military operation alone in the north and northeast of Syria, as the United States hasn't fulfilled its promise to establish a security zone in the area. The region is controlled by the Kurdish People’s Self-Defense Forces, which Ankara considers to be terrorist groups.
