The Soviet Military Cemetery was founded in 1950 in Zwirko and Wigura Alley (Franciszek Zwirko, Stanislaw Wigura). It is the burial place for the remains of over 22,000 Red Army soldiers who died in 1944–1945 during the liberation of Warsaw from Nazi occupation.
