OREANDA-NEWS. In Syria, soldiers of the government army have seized a microscopic reconnaissance drone Black Hornet 3.

Such aerial vehicles are in service in the US Marine Corps. According to The Drive edition, a miniature drone was captured near the town of Tal Tamr, which is located in the border area with Turkey and Iraq.

The helicopter-type drone is less than seven inches (15 centimeters) long and weighs less than one tenth of a pound (45 grams). Black Hornet is controlled with a touchpad and handheld controller. The device can leave the line of sight and fly along a given route using GPS navigation and automatically return to the starting point. Despite its small size, the drone is equipped with two video cameras with variable focus and all-round view, as well as a thermal imager. Working at night, the system combines channels from all three cameras to provide a single view, making it easier for operators to identify objects.
