OREANDA-NEWS. The Azerbaijani Defense Ministry accused Armenia of shelling settlements in various directions of the front near the combat zone in Nagorno-Karabakh on Thursday night.

“During the day on November 4 and on the night of November 5, units of the Armed Forces of Armenia fired at the positions of units of the Azerbaijan army and settlements in various directions of the front from various small arms, cannons and mortars,” the press service of the military department reported.

It is specified that “combat operations with varying intensity continued mainly in the Agderin and Khojavend areas of the front.” “The enemy, having suffered losses in manpower and military equipment in various sectors of the front, was forced to retreat,” the message reads. Currently, according to Baku, Azerbaijani troops “are controlling the operational situation.”

The fighting on the line of contact in Nagorno-Karabakh began on September 27. Armenia and Azerbaijan accused each other of aggression. Yerevan and Baku have repeatedly agreed, with international mediation, on a ceasefire regime, but hostilities are still ongoing.
