OREANDA-NEWS. The Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense reported that the country’s army had disabled the battalion of the 556th regiment of the Armenian Armed Forces during the fighting in Nagorno-Karabakh.

“As a result of the actions taken by the Azerbaijan Army during the combat operations in the Jabrayil direction of the front, a battalion of the 556th regiment of the Armenian armed forces was forced out of action,” the message of the press service of the agency reads. According to it, most of the personnel of the battalion, consisting of about 400 contract servicemen, were put out of action, and the military unit returned to the Armenian town of Ararat for recruitment.

According to the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry, it became known that the regiment commander was dismissed for refusing to bring the remaining personnel into battle. Most of the servicemen were prosecuted for refusing to join the fight.
