OREANDA-NEWS. The US Air Force stopped the program Hypersonic Conventional Strike Weapon (HCSW), which is one of the two projects to create a hypersonic missile to equip strategic B-52 bombers. This is reported by Air Force Magazine.

According to the representative of the Air Force Ann Stefanek, the reason for this was the limited budget allocated for the development of projects. Therefore, the Department of Defense was forced to choose between HCSW and the Air Launched Rapid Response Weapon (ARRW) program. Stefanek noted that the choice in favor of ARRW was made due to the fact that the complex includes a “unique glide body design as compared to other”.

On February 2, US Navy Chief Thomas Modly declared that the United States was lagging behind Russia in the development of hypersonic weapons.
