OREANDA-NEWS. Military police are being brought into the streets of a number of Polish cities, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said. According to the politician, they will provide assistance to the police amid an outbreak of coronavirus infection.

However, according to some sources, the reason for the introduction of troops is the riots that have continued in some cities for the fifth day. The riots began after the Constitutional Court of Poland banned abortion, even in the event of severe fetal pathologies. This decision was not supported not only by the opposition, but also by a number of youth movements, which consider this ruling of the Constitutional Court absurd.

Riots in a number of cities had previously escalated into clashes with policemen. The latter dispersed demonstrators with tear gas, and manifestants threw stones, bottles and eggs at officers.
