OREANDA-NEWS Romania is not interested in Kiev's policy and will not participate in a military conflict with the Russian Federation. This was announced on February 6 by Romanian Defense Minister Bogdan Aurescu, the Bucharest television channel "Prima TV" reports.

"Romanian citizens do not need to worry that we will be drawn into a possible war in the neighboring state [Ukraine]," the head of the Romanian defense ministry noted, in particular. - Bucharest is protected from any aggression from outside by the NATO umbrella, and we [now] do not delve into Kiev's policy."

According to B. Aurescu, it is not profitable for Romania to escalate tensions in relations between the West and Russia. The minister also stressed that at the moment there are no grounds for a confrontation between Bucharest and Moscow.

Earlier, Politico reported that the Romanian ambassador to the United States, Andrei Muraru, announced Romania's desire to purchase offensive weapons from Washington, as well as plans to allow the American military to settle in the country on a permanent basis. Muraru made such a statement after Russia demanded that Romania be excluded from the North Atlantic Alliance. In this regard, Bucharest was forced to take drastic measures. According to the Ambassador, Romania wants to buy F-35 fighter jets, Patriot missile systems and HIMARS MLRS from the United States.
