OREANDA-NEWS. Serbian authorities are interested in purchasing air defense systems from Russia, in addition to the already received complex Pantsir-S1.

This was reported by Dmitry Shugaev, director of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation of Russia. “Serbia also expresses interest in acquiring other air defense systems. We are ready to assist you, our long-time ally and reliable partner, in this matter,” Shugaev said in an interview with the Serbian online resource Glas Javnosti. He noted that Russian manufacturers and the company Rosoboronexport today offer not only a wide range of first-class air defense complexes of various ranges, but also comprehensive solutions to create a highly reliable air defense system. “We are open for discussion, but it is premature to speak about concrete results yet,” Shugaev added.

Serbia is the largest importer of Russian weapons and military equipment in Europe. At the end of February of 2020, its army received the complex Pantsir-S1.
