OREANDA-NEWS. A soldier was killed during an attack by the US Air Force on the position of the Syrian army south of the city of Qamishli, two servicemen were wounded. This was announced on August 17 by the state news agency SANA. According to it, the American unmanned aerial vehicle struck an army checkpoint near the settlement of Tell al-Zakhab. It is noted that the blow was carried out after the checkpoint personnel stopped the American patrol.

In March, US aircraft attacked the base of the Iraqi militia Al-Hashd al-Shaabi on the Syrian-Iraqi border. At least 18 Iraqi Shiite fighters were killed.

In early August, Rear Admiral Alexander Shcherbitsky, head of the Russian Center for Reconciliation of Opposing Sides in Syria, reported that Arab tribal militias opposing US-backed militants had taken control of several settlements on the eastern bank of the Euphrates River.
