OREANDA-NEWS. As a result of a missile strike inflicted on January 8 by Iran forces on two US military bases, located in Ayn al Asad and Erbil on the territory of Iraq, 34 American soldiers were injured.

This was reported by Reuters agency citing the US Department of Defense. Initially, American authorities claimed that no one was injured. Last week, the Pentagon announced 11 victims.

The Spokesman of the Department Jonathan Hoffman said that 34 American soldiers were diagnosed with cerebral injuries. 17 of them were initially transported to Germany for treatment, 8 of which returned to the United States. Another 9 people who were delivered to Germany are still being examined and treated there. The remaining 17 military men were treated in Iraq and then returned to service.
