OREANDA-NEWS. The Turkish Armed Forces hit 101 targets of the Syrian government army in response to shelling in the governorate of Idlib.

“According to preliminary data, 115 targets of the Syrian army were shot at, 101 targets were hit, three tanks were destroyed, and one helicopter was shot down. The operation continues,” the statement of the Turkish Ministry of Defense says.

Earlier, the agency reported that five Turkish soldiers were killed and five were wounded as a result of shelling of the observation post by the Syrian troops.

According to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, 76 Syrian servicemen became victims of Ankara’s response.

The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that Turkey did not warn Moscow about the upcoming movements. At the same time, Omer Chelik, the official representative of the Justice and Development Party led by Erdogan, said that Ankara “regularly and promptly” informs Russia, and in this case “the mechanisms for informing Russia worked as usual.”
