OREANDA-NEWS. The US Department of Defense reported about successful testing of a hypersonic missile C-HGB at the Pacific Missile Range Facility located at the island of Kauai (Hawaii, the Pacific Ocean).

The test was held under the joint control of the US Navy and US Army. “Today we validated our design and are now ready to move to the next phase towards fielding a hypersonic strike capability,” Vice Admiral Johnny R. Wolfe, the Director of the Navy’s Strategic Systems Programs, said.

It is reported on the official Pentagon’s website that the glide body C-HGB will comprise a conventional warhead, guidance system and thermal protection shield. The missile of this type can be launched from sea or land.
