OREANDA-NEWS. Transportation of the runner of 250 MW hydroturbine for Bratskaya HPP started on the night of October 3rd/4th.

According to the press service of Power Machines, the runner of 85 tons, manufactured by Power Machines was shipped and delivered to the airport “Pulkovo”. The runner will be delivered to Bratsk by aircraft An-124-100 “Ruslan”.

Transport and air operation to deliver heavy goods of that kind is traditionally carried out by aircompany “Polyot”, specializing in transportation of super-heavy and large-scale goods. In connection with considerable large-scale features of the runner (weight - 85 tons, diameter – 6,01 m, height – 2,8 m) transportation is carried out by a special road-train late in the night when the traffic is low.

Power Machines and OJSC “Irkutskenergo” signed over a  delivery of 6 runners for Bratskaya HPP hydroturbine modernization in October 2004. Hydroturbines reconstruction with runners replacement will be carried out as part of the OJSC “Irkutskenergo” investment program for improvement of the plant’s equipment efficiency.

The project covers each hydroturbine expansion in accordance with modernization to 255 MW and efficiency upgrading that will make it possible to increase turbine output.

In terms of the contract Power Machines are to supply Bratskaya HPP with one runner a year in 2006 – 2007, in 2008 – 2009 – with 2 runners a year and to carry out equipment assembly installation supervision.  The supply of 2nd runner for the regular power unit is planned for July 2007.
