OREANDA-NEWS. To increase its production in a highly competitive environment, OMK plans to achieve maximum efficiency in management of its production costs, quality, and time.

According to the press service of OMK, on November 13 President of United Metallurgical Company (OMK) Vladimir Markin said about this making his report at the 2006 Russian Metal Market conference, which traditionally inaugurates the Metal Expo exhibition week held in Moscow.

To that end, OMK plans to launch in Vyksa, in late 2007 – early 2008, Phase 1 of the Foundry and Rolling Facility (FRF) for hot-rolled steel coils with special properties for the production of small- and medium-diameter single-seam welded pipes.

In 2010, OMK is to launch the "Wide-Sheet Mill 5000" steel works complex for the production of longitudinal thick-walled pipe of 1,220-1,420 mm in diameter. The capacity of FRF Phase 1 and Wide-Sheet Mill 5000 will be 1.2 million tonnes each. Accordingly, OMK will fully cover its needs for high quality skelps for the manufacture of pipes of all types and sizes.

As early as 2008, the OMK President said, OMK will have the world's most powerful and technologically unique large-diameter pipe production complex with a capacity of 85 pipes an hour, which is equivalent to the annual production capacity of 2 million tonnes. This will enable OMK to fulfill orders for any level of sophistication.
