OREANDA-NEWS. The International Iron and Steel Institute has published the data according to which the world production of crude steel in January-October 2006 has made 1 billion 10 million 694 thousand tons that exceeded parameters of January-October 2005 by 9,2 %.

Asia produced 534 million 189 thousand tons of steel (12,9 %). Chin’s output made 346 million 140 thousand tons (18,4 %). Japan made 96 million 175 thousand tons (2,1 %), South Korea - 40 million tons (1 %), India - 35 million 54 thousand tons (12,6 %), Taiwan - 16 million 820 thousand tons (7,8 %).

In 25 EU countries output of crude steel in January-October 2006 made 166 million 480 thousand tons (6,3 %, in Germany - 39 million 451 thousand tons (5,5 %), in Italy - 26 million 304 thousand tons (7,3 %), in France - 16 million 723 thousand tons (2,9 %), in Spain - 15 million 664 thousand tons (2,8 %), in the Great Britain - 11 million 744 thousand tons (6,2 %), in Belgium - 9 million 692 thousand tons (11 %).

The CIS countries produced 98 million 885 thousand tons of steel (5,2 %). Output in Russia made 58 million 371 thousand tons (5,6 %), in Ukraine - 33 million 829 thousand tons (6,1 %).

In Northern America crude steel production made 111 million 760 thousand tons of steel (6,3 %), in the USA - 83 million 822 thousand tons (7,9 %), in Mexico - 13 million 509 thousand tons (-0,5 %).

South America made 37 million 809 thousand tons (0,4 %). Brazil made 25 million 559 thousand tons (-2,9 %).

Africa produced 14 million 95 thousand tons of steel (-4 %). In the Near East production made 12 million 399 thousand tons (2,1 %).
