OREANDA-NEWS. Skoda JS, a part of OMZ-NPPEQ division of OMZ (Uralmash-Izhora Group) (RTS: OMZZ; LSE: OMZD; OTC: UHMVY), has signed an agreement with Paks Nuclear Power Plant, Hungary for the in-service inspection of the physical condition of material used in the pressure vessels at the plant’s four reactors.. The agreement encompasses work for the period 2007-2010.

According to the press service of OMZ, Skoda JS won a tender for these services. The tender was opened on 30 May, 2006 and concluded on 8 Nov. Five companies participated, and two, including Skoda JS, were short-listed.

This agreement calls for a significant work load for Skoda JS for the coming four years. It means the company will continue inspections undertaken in 1987-1990, 1991-1994 and 2003-2006. All four power units at Paks were produced by Skoda JS.

For the period of 1982-2006, Skoda JS completed more than 70 inspections of VVER-440 and VVER-1000 power units in six countries of Central and Eastern Europe and in Armenia.

OMZ-NPPEQ specializes in engineering, sales and maintenance of the equipment for nuclear energy sector. OMZ-NPPEQ production facilities are located in St.Petersburg (Izhorskiye Zavody) and in Czech Republic (Skoda JS).
