OREANDA-NEWS. Skoda JS, a part of OMZ-NPPEQ division of OMZ (Uralmash-Izhora Group) (RTS: OMZZ; LSE: OMZD; OTC: UHMVY), has announced the signing of a contract for the modernization of power components on polar cranes in the reactor halls at the Bulgarian Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant.

According to the press service of OMZ, the total value of the contract is over ?1.5 million.

The contract will be implemented in two stages – the crane at Unit 6 in October 2007 and the crane at Unit 5 in May 2008.

Skoda JS carried out a successful modernization of the plant’s monitoring system two years ago.

OMZ-NPPEQ specializes in engineering, sales and maintenance of the equipment for nuclear energy sector. OMZ-NPPEQ production facilities are located in St.Petersburg (Izhorskiye Zavody) and in Czech Republic (Skoda JS).

Since 1956, the Skoda JS has been active in engineering connected with and in supplying the nuclear energy industry. Skoda JS, acting as a major contractor, has supplied the primary components including the nuclear fuel handling systems to the following nuclear power plants: Bohunice and Mochovce in Slovakia, Dukovany and Temel’n in the Czech Republic.
