OREANDA-NEWS. This December the cold stamping workshop of the Tver Carriage Works made operational a new gas-plasma tool manufactured by MESSER (Germany).

According to the press service of Transmashholding, the new tool is designed to cut thick metal sheets (from 10 to 16 mm thick). It will unload the laser complex that used to perform all work of the kind and reduce the number of after cut mechanical handling.

The gas-plasma tool bridge houses a plasmatron and two gas-jets. The metal cut can be performed both by plasma and gas; the gas-jets provide simultaneous cut of equal parts. The plasmatron can cut metal at any angle (produce chamfers) and stamp the parts (all fronts, stamps possible).

The high cut quality of the tool saves the after cut mechanical handling and doubles the workshops capacity. The sophisticated air cleaning system with a powerful air vent reduces the amount of harmful substance emission into the atmosphere improving the staff working conditions.

The parts cut by the new gas-plasma tool are designed for bolsterless bogies. The set comprise bogie solebars, bolsters, and disc type brake assembly units.
