OREANDA-NEWS. UralmashSpecStal, a part of OMZ (Uralmash-Izhora Group) (RTS: OMZZ; LSE: OMZD; OTC: UHMVY), announced today that the 10 Jan. signing of a contract to supply back-up rolls with 4% chromium content to Shanghai Electric E&A Industrial Development Co., China. The contract is worth US$4 million. Delivery is to be completed this year.

Wang Yunxiang, General Director, Shanghai Electric E&A Industrial Development Co., said that his company is actively developing production of equipment for the metallurgical industry and is interested in cooperation with UralmashSpecStal, in particular for the production of back-up rolls and other products.

UralmashSpecStal cooperates with other Chinese companies. In 2006 the company supplied back-up rolls with high chromium content to plants belonging to Tangshan Iron and Steel Co. Ltd, Shougang Group and Tainjin Cold Strip Mill. From February 2007 the company will ship working rolls to another Chinese company, Handan Iron and Steel.

UralmashSpecStal produces four types of steel forged rolls, including backup and working rolls for hot and cold rolling mills. The rolls are used for the production of rolled metal ranging from the finest sheet metal and foil to thick plates and large billets.

UralmashSpecStal owns the full roll production cycle, including steelmaking, forging, heat treatment and mechanical processing, as well as processing on high-accuracy roller-grinding machines.
