OREANDA-NEWS. The second chemical tanker project 4450 was laid down at Volgograd Shipyard.

The contract for construction of two tankers was concluded by the Yard and Svithoid Tankers AB. in May 2006.

The lead ship of the project was keel-laid in October, 2006; now the sections to build the hull are produced. The lead ship is scheduled for delivery at the end of year 2007. The vessels are named "Vedrey Vrenen" and "Vedrey Vinga". The vessels’ home port is Lemesos, Cyprus.

Basic characteristics of the tanker: all-welded, self-propelled, single-screw tanker with controllable-pitch propeller, one continuous deck, with forecastle and aft, closed vented longitudinal trunk (cat walk) from fore part to the aft. With 14 cargo tanks (including two fore combined cargo/slop tanks), with ballast tanks in double sides and double bottom, with forepeak and afterpeak, ER and superstructure aft.

Deadweight is about 4,500 mt, maximum length – 91.95 m, breadth – 16.0 m, depth – 7.8 m, draught – 5.7 m. The vessel is capable of carrying up to 14 types of cargoes in a voyage, including crude oil, oil products, vegetable oil and tallow oil as well as chemical cargoes IMO Type 2. Speed of the vessel at 85% use of SPP is 11.5 knots; speed at ballast draught 4.05 m is 12.5 knots. Sea endurance - 20 days.

Tanker project 4450 is a sea-going ice-reinforced vessel. The design was worked out by the Volgo-Caspian Design Bureau (Nizhniy Novgorod) for class 100A5 E2 ESP NAV-O RSD ERS BWM Chemical Tanker (Type 2) / Oil Tanker Environmental Passport MC E2 AUT INERT of Germanischer Lloyd (GL).

Corrosion-resistant coating MarineLain, worked out by Advanced Polymer Coating L.T.D will be used in the vessels. The coating allows transporting aggressive liquid goods – acids, alkali, etc.
