OREANDA-NEWS. In the near future, a new rolling mill for small-sheet spring blanks will be put into operation at the Automobile Spring Workshop of the Chusovoy Steel Works Automobile Spring Production (CSW, Perm Territory), part of United Metallurgical Company (OMK).

According to the press service of OMK, the mill (6,000 tonnes of designed annual capacity) was manufactured by HVD Kuczpiol GmbH, Germany.

The installation of the rolling mill for small-sheet spring blanks will enable CSW to achieve European quality for its finished products and increase its annual spring production capacity. In 2006, CSW produced a total of 9,568 tonnes of small-sheet springs. The mill manufactured by HVD Kuczpiol GmbH is a versatile mill designed for the production of all types of small-sheet springs. It is CSW's top priority to master the production of rectangular section springs requested by KAMAZ.

Peter Kuczpiol, CEO of HVD Kuczpiol GmbH, has arrived at CSW to supervise the equipment installation and train spring specialists.

The decision to purchase and install this modern rolling mill for small-sheet spring blanks at CSW was made by United Metallurgical Company's Investment Committee in the context of the growing demand for ISO 1649 small-sheet springs in the internal and external markets, and the expansion of the range of springs used in the automotive industry. The launch of the rolling mill will enable CSW to manufacture springs with unique characteristics, which have not been achieved in Russia so far.
