OREANDA-NEWS. According to the operative data, in January-February 2007, the coal-mining enterprises of Ukraine have reduced coal mining by 2,5 %, or by 328,3 thousand tons to 12 million 667,8 thousand tons in comparison with analogous period of 2006.

According to the Interfax-Ukraine, the Ministry of Coal Industry noted that extraction of coked coal for two months of 2007 reduced by 5,5 %, or by 271,9 thousand tons to 4 million 634,2 thousand tons, power coal - by 0,7 %, or by 56,3 thousand tons to 8 million 33,6 thousand tons.

The coal mining in February 2007 made 6 million 347,5 thousand tons, or 3,3 %, or by 219,4 thousand tons less than in February 2006. The coal-mining enterprises reduced extraction of coked coal by 4,5 %, or by 107,5 thousand tons to 2 million 299,6 thousand tons, power coal - by 2,7 %, or by 111,9 thousand tons to 4 million 47,9 thousand tons for the last month.

At the same time, the coal-mining enterprises have exceeded the planned target established by the ministry on coal mining by 5,9 %, or by 703,4 thousand tons in January-February 2007, including on extraction of coking coal - by 17,2 %, or by 680,3 thousand tons, power coal - by 0,3 %, or by 23,1 thousand tons.

The coal mining in Ukraine in 2006 increased by 2,8 % up to 80,257 million tons in comparison with 2005. The coal-mining enterprises reduced extraction of coked coal by 8,2 % to 30,145 million tons, having increased extraction of power coal by 10,9 % to 50,112 million tons.
