OREANDA-NEWS. According to the preliminary data, in January-February 2007, the mining enterprises of Ukraine have increased export of iron ore raw material by 12,5 % - up to 3,1 million tons in comparison with analogous period of 2006.

According to the Interfax-Ukraine, the representative of association of mining enterprises "Ukrrudprom" (Dnepropetrovsk region) noted that in January-February 2007 Ukraine has increased export of iron ore concentrate by 35,4 % - up to 470 thousand tons in comparison with January-February, 2006, sintering ore - by 2,2 %, up to 1,148 million tons, pellets - by 15,3 %, up to 1,482 million tons.

In February, export of iron ore raw material made 1,494 million tons, including 247 thousand tons of concentrate, 538 thousand tons of sintering ore and 709 thousand tons of pellets.

The representative of “Ukrrudprom” has noted that the basic supplier of pellets in the foreign markets is the Poltava mining-concentrating enterprise (GOK) exporting the most part of its production.

The representative of “Ukrrudprom” has added that in the future export of iron ore raw material by Ukrainian mining-concentrating enterprises can increase in case of absence of dynamics of demand from Ukrainian metal works. In particular, export of iron ore raw material through seaports of Ukraine will increase.

In 2006 Ukraine increased export of iron ore raw material by 2,1 % - up to 19,880 million tons in comparison with 2005. At the same time, in 2006 the mining-concentrating enterprises have increased export of concentrate by 13,4 % - up to 3,995 million tons in comparison with 2005, sintering ore - by 9,1 %, up to 7,317 million tons, having reduced export of pellets by 10,1 %  to 8,568 million tons.
