OREANDA-NEWS. The Oktyabrsky Electric Railway Car Repair Plant (OEVRZ) has won the tender for an overhaul of seven sleeping cars for the JSC Passenger leasing rail car company (a subsidiary company of JSC Passenger traffic, the Republic of Kazakhstan).

According to the press service of “Transmashholding”, the tender was held on March 3, 2007 in the Kazakhstan capital, the city of Astana. The OEVRZ was announced to have become the winner company on March 26.

To satisfy the customer demands the overhaul will include aluminum and plastic double glass panes, and luminescent ceiling lamps with static converters. The coaches will be painted afresh with alkyd enamels. The coating warranty period is five years. The overhaul also implies works for better fire security of the rolling stock. The coaches post-overhaul service life will be at least 15 years.

The first coach from Kazakhstan will be repaired as soon as this May with the rest scheduled for June, July, and September, two coaches each month.
It is noteworthy that The Oktyabrsky Electric Railway Car Repair Plant has already dealt with Kazakhstan. The OEVRZ performed the overhaul of a total of nine sleeping cars for the Kazakhstan Railways in 2006. The cars were prepared for regional exploitation in line with the customer demands.
