OREANDA-NEWS. The Mongolian Railways delegation headed by the chief of locomotive facilities, Amgalan Joljaev, visited Kolomensky Zavod (KZ, a Transmashholding-integrated company) on March 29, 2007.

According to the press service of Transmashholding, the meeting was devoted to the problems of upgrading the Mongolian Railways rolling stock.

The Mongolian Railways have entered the phase of active upgrade of the tractive rolling stock. The railways top managers are considering Russian enterprises, including Kolomensky Zavod, as possible participants in the diesel locomotive depot modernization works.

The parties were considering various kinds of partnership implying both upgrade and overhaul of the locomotives under exploitation, and shipment of new locomotives to Mongolia.

The parties also discussed the idea of fitting the diesel locomotives of the Mongolian Railways with up-to-date Kolomensky diesels.

The talks also touched upon shipment of necessary amounts of spare parts, after-sales, and post-warranty service.

The conference resulted in a letter of intent.
