OREANDA-NEWS. The international Iron and Steel Institute has published the data according to which the world production of crude steel in March 2007 made 110 million 920 thousand tons that exceeded parameters of March 2006 at the rate of 102 million 183 thousand tons by 8,6 %.

Asia produced 60 million 724 thousand tons of steel (15,4 %). China made 40 million 157 thousand tons (20,4 %). Japan’s output totaled 10 million 258 thousand tons (6 %).

In 27 EU countries crude steel production in March 2007 made 18 million 760 thousand tons (1,5 %).

In the CIS countries output has made 10 million 681 thousand tons of steel (8,6 %).

Northern America produced 10 million 412 thousand tons of steel (-11,3 %). In the USA output has made 7 million 800 thousand tons (-12 %).

South America produced 4 million 78 thousand tons (9 %).

Africa made 1 million 593 thousand tons of steel (12,2 %).

In the Near East output of crude steel totalled 1 million 310 thousand tons (7 %).
