OREANDA-NEWS. May 29, 2007. Kotlas Pulp and Paper Mill starts the most interesting and prospective project within the framework of Ilim Pulp Corporate University — providing foremen and team-leaders engaged in the main facilities with human resource management skills. The first implementation of the project that took place last year was a success.

79 employees were selected to take part in the programme, “Human resource management skills for first-line managers”. They are workers involved in paper and containerboard production and production of dissolving pulp, as well as Energotechnological Thermal Power Plant workers.

The trainees were divided into four groups. Each group will be given a three-day training course by MDB, a Moscow-based consulting company. The main objectives of the programme are to help first-line managers enhance their administrative skills and realize their role as managers. The course includes lectures on and training of first-line managers’ responsibility and their ability to manage operations staff, as well as motivation and decision making in a range of situations.

Corporate University, an integrated personnel training and development system, was launched in 2004. Its main goal is to establish a system that allows to select, train and professionally guide the company’s most talented staff.
