OREANDA-NEWS. September 17, 2008. The Turkmenbashi complex of oil refineries is the biggest enterprise producing over 25% of the goods manufactured in the country.

The large-scale project on reconstruction and technology modernization of the enterprise enabled to ensure highly effective and deep refinement of raw oil into high-quality transport fuel, oil lubricants, polypropylene, liquefied gas and other oil products.

Oil industry workers successfully fulfilled the designated tasks. Since the beginning of 2008 as many as 200,000 tons of oil, 83,000 tons of motor gasoline, 19,000 tons of liquefied gas, 10,300 tons of polypropylene, 1,000 tons of oil lubricants have been produced as compared to the same period of 2007. Out of total output 66.2%, or over US\\$ 2 billion in terms of money was exported. The profits increased as much as four times as compared with the same period of 2007.

The Turkmenbashi complex of oil refineries applies advanced technologies and implements the projects on construction of modern units and facilities. Thus, Irish Emerol constructed the AT-6 oil refining unit with the annual capacity of 2.5 million tons and Turkish Hayat built the administrative building of the Turkmenbashi complex this year. President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov who had highly appreciated the work of architects, designers, builders and all construction specialists the complex participated in the ceremony of putting the units into operation.

The aviation kerosene refining facility with the annual capacity of 520,000 tons constructed under the project of the Merikem Company put into operation in the second quarter of 2008. The AT-7 oil refining unit with the annual capacity of 3 million tons and the liquefied gas terminal to Kiyanly are under construction.

In accordance with the Programme on Oil and Gas Industry Development till 2030 the contracts were concluded with the foreign companies for construction of the asphaltum oil carbonization and deresination unit (UZK-DAG), the units producing polypropylene fabric (BiOPP) and polypropylene bags, modernization of sewage and water recycling systems under the ecological project, application of the SCADA systems.

The uninterrupted, profitable and high-performance operation of the main facilities promotes implementing the social programmes. To improve the housing conditions of oil industry workers two apartment houses were reconstructed, the sports and health-improving centre was put into operation and the 72-apartment house were constructed.

The former administrative building is reconstructed and supplied with medical equipment. It will house the health-improving and diagnostic centre of the Turkmenbashi oil refineries.

The Turkmenbashi complex is the building owner of the ongoing projects in the Avaza national tourism zone such as the 7-km artificial river, water desalinating plant with the capacity of 35,000 cubic meters a day and 900-seat health-improving centre. Construction of the 600-seat secondary school and 160-seat kindergarten was started in the littoral town.

The enterprise has the big plans for the future. In the near future the units which will enable to improve the quality of the products and to manufacture new kinds of lubricating oils will be constructed there.

The Seidi oil refinery affiliated with the Turkmenbashi complex will specialize in refining oil, gas condensate and natural gas, producing various kinds of paving bitumen, synthetic detergents, polyethylene and polypropylene, benzol, toluol, xyol and the other oil products. The international tender for technology modernization and reconstruction of the Seidi Oil refining plant was announced.

In the epoch of New Revival the large-scale development programme will allow the basic sector of the national economy to achieve a higher level, to enhance the country’s export potential, to produce a broad range of competitive environmental friendly products meeting the international standards.
