OREANDA-NEWS. On 28 May 2009 was announced, that Petronas company is ready to supply 5 billion cubic meters of commercial natural gas from the fields located in the Turkmen shelf of the Caspian Sea and to bring those levels up to 10 billion cubic meters in the near future. This was reported by the head of the well-known Malaysian company, Mohammad Hassan Marikan, at a meeting with President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on May 15. The head of state invited the president of Petronas company to report on the progress made by the company, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan (TDH) said.

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed gratitude to the head of Petronas company for the progress made and long-standing active cooperation, and issued specific instructions regarding the use of commercial quantities of natural gas produced by the company operating on PSA basis, as well as the directions of natural gas transportation.

It should be recalled that Petronas is the first foreign company that was awarded the right to develop contractual territory "Block-1" on the Turkmen shelf of the Caspian Sea on the basis of a 25-year Production Sharing Agreement (PSA) singed in 1996.
