OREANDA-NEWS. September 22, 2009. Rostelecom, Russia’s national long-distance operator, has begun to set up the Project Office for the implementation of a project to roll out the infrastructure for the Electronic Government.

By decision of the Government of the Russian Federation, Rostelecom was appointed as the sole contractor for measures aimed at implementing the federal special-purpose program Electronic Russia (2002-2010) with respect to the design and creation of infrastructure for the country’s electronic government.

The Board of Directors of Rostelecom has approved the company’s participation as the sole national operator for the infrastructure Electronic Government and recognized Rostelecom as the party tasked with executing this federal special-purpose program, which is long-term and commercially-oriented in nature.

Rostelecom has recently begun to roll out a project to establish the infrastructure for a single national operator under the Electronic Government, including the budget, feasibility study, an action plan for its implementation, the guidelines, legal and economic model for the company’s relations with other participants under this project.

The Project Office is a division of the company which is in charge of centralizing and coordinating the project.
