OREANDA-NEWS. February 18, 2010. E4-SibCOTES has been granted four more patents. E4-SibCOTES’ engineers in cooperation with representatives of the Siberian Federal University have developed technical solutions for two burners, a furnace and steam generator furnace ensuring increase in the performance efficiency of power generating equipment.

In particular, the solution for a furnace is designed to ensure reliable boiler light-up with high-density pulverized coal and fast fuel burnout. The most efficient for concentration of combustion mixture components (air and fuel) necessary for ignition is provided with the proposed burner. The development also enables swift ignition and complete fuel burnout.

The steam furnace design featuring less number of air nozzles allows a customer to reduce slag yield and carbon loss, and enhance heat exchange efficiency in the furnace bottom.

A new burner unit that was assembled on Boiler No.5 at the Belovskaya GRES (TGK-12), is being currently commissioned and tested.  According to Mikhail Potylitsin, one of the designers, they have installed a muffle and operating burner within the main burner housing. Such design ensures that an operating burner retains its characteristics, and waterwall piping can be eliminated. Along with it, the solution allows using pulverized coal to light-up the boiler with the help of a muffle burner, i.e. it reduces fuel oil residue consumption for boiler firing -up.
